In focus – Polaris Ranger 1000 XP

It was great to see one of our latest deliveries out at work this week on Overbury Estate.

Tom is the Shepherd at Overbury Farms and manages a 1100 strong sheep flock, made of up of North Country Mules and some home bred North Country Mules crossed with a Texel ram.

We recently delivered a Polaris Ranger 1000 XP for him to use everyday. This model is ideal for the terrain and conditions Tom would be facing on a daily basis.

The farm runs to almost 1000ft on the summit of Bredon Hill and has about 650mm of rain each year. When heading downhill the Ranger 1000 XP allows you to remain fully in control of the vehicle for the entire descent, even with up to 1,500 lbs. of cargo on board (or the odd Ewe). The Engine Braking System increases the effectiveness of braking and minimises wear and tear on the tyres and brakes, therefore increasing rider safety.

The changing weather and ground conditions can mean you spend your days between the wet, heavy clay of the vale and the rough brash of the hills. The Ranger 1000 XP combines a rigid one-piece chassis with a strong under-body skid plate. Furthermore, it boasts an impressive class-leading 13″ of ground clearance and massive front bumper, which makes this beast ready to handle any terrain.

This doesn’t mean there is any sacrifice on performance. XP stands for Xtreme Performance, and that is what you get with the DOHC 999cc ProStar engine, delivering 82 HP and 62 lb-ft of torque, giving you the ultimate performance and acceleration you would expect. Whilst the sealed bushings and bearings deliver lasting performance and quieter operation.

Lastly, it is vital you have the carrying capacity to solve any emergency or situation you may come across. Whether you need to move some stranded lambs, rescue a ewe or simply move the feed. This is met with:

2,500 lb. Towing Capacity
1,500 lb. Payload Capacity
1,000 lb. Box Capacity

Purpose-built Pro-PVT clutch delivers ultra-smooth engagement, and with 3 drive mode throttle control, the rider can choose the ride mode for the task at hand. Combine the smooth ride with premium automotive-style interior fit and finish, an all-new steering wheel, and plush seating to deliver all-day comfort – a necessity when lambing or calving.

In short the Ranger XP 1000 offers an industry-leading option to those working in tough terrain, testing conditions and unpredictable climate. A combination of engine power, towing/payload capacity and driver safety makes this UTV your most capable and essential work partner.
